A Great Amount

A Great Amount

An occurrence of a great amount of chaos providing a great amount of peace.

There are a lot of general day-to-day fragments of to-do’s and concerns that somehow manage to grab hold of merriment, pin it down in a scrap and shout over the top of the struggles. Sometimes it just doesn’t give in, amplified higher than everything else as if Macaulay Culkin is turning it up to “Are you nuts!?!” In a rebellious little protest of I WILL NOT go to bed!

When I painted this piece I was thinking of being outside on those days of chaotic weather and how it can obliterate these overwhelming concerns with ease. The days that are built from every kind of weather all rolled into one.

I’m not worried about my direct debits when I’m engulfed by a breeze that pushes the clouds faster than I can seem to get up this hill and a quick blast of rain hits like a splash of pool water when a small child is trying to front crawl in your personal space.

I’m merely a spec in the entire performance.

It’s that clarity that relieves me of the duty to worry.

An occurrence of a great amount of chaos providing a great amount of peace.
